Jarmo Mahonen joined FIA as new Rally Director

The FIA is pleased to announce that Jarmo Mahonen has joined its Federation as Rally Director, with immediate effect.

The Finn will be based at the FIA’s offices in Geneva, Switzerland, and will be responsible for managing a new rallying structure within the FIA, along with the continued assistance of Michèle Mouton.

“We are at the dawn of a fresh and exciting era for our sport and having a new and dedicated management team in place will ensure we are ready to respond to future challenges,” said Mahonen. “Putting the FIA World Rally Championship firmly back on the global map is a priority, as is ensuring we have a clear cost-effective structure and ladder of opportunity for all our competitors around the world. We have challenging times ahead, but this is going to be a very dynamic period for rallying.”

Jarmo Mahonen, formerly the Managing Director of AKK Sports Ltd, brings a wealth of experience to the sport, having successfully run the Finnish Motorsport Federation and promoted Finland’s round of the FIA World Rally Championship for many years.
