BRC at Finnish Motorsport Show

The MSA British Rally Championship will be represented at the VM Finnish Motorsport Show in Helsinki from 9th to 11th November, building on the historical draw the British series has for Scandinavian competitors.

BRC boss Mark Taylor and championship co-ordinator Caroline Reid will attend the show, the invitation extended by former Suzuki JWRC boss and event organiser Risto Laine.

For many years the BRC has attracted competitors from Finland, Sweden and Norway and Taylor hopes meeting potential competitors face to face on their home turf will help to increase the BRC’s popularity overseas.

Mark Taylor:

“We have had a policy over the last few years of actively promoting the championship overseas. We have extended the reach of the media coverage via worldwide syndication of the series on TV and have managed to attract print coverage as far afield as Mexico and Australia.

“But there is no substitute for meeting people face to face and I believe with such a great selection of events, it is still the place for drivers to learn and hone their skills. Going front wheel drive has proved very popular and the additional changes that we have made to next year’s regulations should make it even more accessible. I feel we need to reinforce that message with events like this.”

Although it is unlikely that many British crews will make the trip to Helsinki, the event takes place at the Helsingin Messukeskus (Helsinki Exhibition Centre) with tickets just 15€.
