This year´s Finnish Rally Champion Esapekka Lappi will make his debut in a factory ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000. Scheduled for September 28 – 30, the Poland Rally is the penultimate event of this year´s European Championship.
ŠKODA Motorsport (factory team) is going to test this year´s Finnish Rally Champion Esapekka Lappi (21) at the upcoming Poland Rally. Lappi and his co-driver Janne Ferm (32) will make their debut in a factory ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000. The fact that the team´s factory driver Juho Hänninen has already become this year´s European Champion has brought ŠKODA to a decision to test the talented Lappi in the penultimate event of the European Championship series. The “Rajd Polski” is scheduled for 28 – 30 September.
Commenting on his debut in a factory car, Esapekka Lappi says: “This will be our debut in a factory team, as well as at this event, and we are looking forward to this rally a great deal. The gravel roads in Poland are supposed be similar to those in Finland that we know very well. Our ambition is to put in a 100% performance and finish this rally successfully.”
By winning all of the seven events of this year´s Finnish Rally Championship, Esapekka Lappi has achieved an unprecedented result in the entire history of Finnish rallying.
Taking place on gravel roads in the surroundings of the Mazur Lakes from Friday 28 September till Sunday 30 September, the Poland Rally is made up of 13 special stages (233 kilometres).
ŠKODA Motorsport´s factory crew Juho Hänninen & Mikko Markkula have already become this year´s European Champions and are the only crew to have won the IRC Championship (2010), the SWRC (2011) and the European Championship.
