Oliveira competes in Austria to warm up for his WRC comeback in Germany

The BWRT drivers Daniel Oliveira and Carlos Magalhaes will have a second try in the Austrian Rally Championship when they compete in the Rallye Weiz (August 2nd-3rd) with the aim of running more kilometres on asphalt ahead of their WRC challenge in Germany late next month.

The Brazilian driver and his Portuguese navigator will be entering this rally under the Brazil World Rally Team and they will do it in a Ford Fiesta RRC managed and serviced by the Stohl Racing team.

The Ford Fiesta Regional Rally Car (RRC) is a variant of the Ford Fiesta RS WRC which Oliveira usually drives in the World Rally Championship. Both cars share the same DNA, but the RRC version features a 30 mm engine restrictor and aerodynamic modifications to qualify for regional rally championship regulations.

The event will take place in the town of Weiz, in the eastern part of the state of Styria, to the southwest of Austria, and will be valid for the sixth round of the National Championship.

This rally features a 90% itinerary of asphalt-based roads which is perfect to enable Oliveira to get a good grip on the car’s handling on this surface.

This will be the second time for Dani and Carlos competing in Austria. They had already entered the all-asphalt Rebenland Rallye (2nd round) in M arch, where they claimed a third position on board a Peugeot 207 S2000.

“Manfred Stohl and I believe this outing will be useful to get to Germany with the best pace possible on asphalt. However, this time will be different from when I competed in Austria for the first time back in March. I’m more familiar to this Ford Fiesta than the Peugeot I ran before”, said Oliveira.
