Jan Kopecký prepared for tough Corsica test

Jan Kopecký will make his third start in this season’s all-action Intercontinental Rally Challenge on Giru di Corsica-Tour de Corse from 9-12 May.

But the ŠKODA Motorsport ace insists he won’t be taking anything for granted when the competitive action begins on Thursday afternoon.

“This is a very difficult rally in which everybody has to use all of their strength,” said the Czech driver. “We will be faced with strong competition from a number of top-class drivers and there will be no space and no time for driving too tactically, but we are prepared to fight for the top ranks as usual.”

Kopecký has been runner-up in the IRC for the last three seasons. He finished second in Corsica last year, 15.8s behind Peugeot runner Thierry Neuville.

After three rounds of this year’s IRC, Kopecký is third in the drivers’ standings, 21 points behind title leader and defending IRC champion Andreas Mikkelsen.
