David Sterckx Rally Sport team of David Sterckx and Karen Jankowski is pleased to announce a sponsorship relationship with AlphaStar for the 2011 & 2012 rally seasons. AlphaStar is a leading global provider of physics based simulation technologies and services for structural modeling and analysis of advanced materials (http://www.alphastarcorp.com). As a woman-owned corporation headquartered in Long Beach, California, they have provided advanced material research for the DOD, aerospace, and automotive global markets for over 20 years. This partnership will allow AlphaStar entry into new business segments and David Sterckx Rally sport team to expand their program globally.
At their first event together Sterckx & Jankowski got off to an impressive start at Mendocino rally in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, winning the first five stages to build up a formidable lead of almost two minutes. However, a slipping clutch forced their retirement at the start of stage 6, despite the best efforts of their fellow competitors to push the car forward at the uphill start.
“It is shame the clutch broke at Mendocino Rally because we were so close to an overall win. All in all though it was a great first event together for the team and provided a good shakedown for the car. I know we will be even stronger at Prescott Rally next month” stated Sterckx.
Next event for the team will be at one of the oldest most challenging rallies on the West Coast: Prescott Rally September 30-October 1st where they will debut there new sponsorship.
Getting as much seat time together in various rally events this year will best prepare them for the Rally America National Championship in 2012 where they will be running the full season.
David Sterckx is a multiple Belgium Rally Champion and race winner, competed in WRC rallies RAC and Acropolis and was an official driver for the WRC Skoda Octavia Rally Team Belgium. He is also a double threat by spending much of his career racing sports cars around the world.
Karen Jankowski has been rallying since 2006 and has won the Rally America National 2wd and G5 Championships, the Max Attack Championship and several rally events.
