2012 FIA Production car World Rally Championship Calendar Released

The 2012 FIA Production Car World Rally Championship (PWRC) calendar was approved on 23rdSeptember by the FIA World Motor Sport Council.

The PWRC will return in 2012 to celebrate its quarter century. Dedicated to cars of near showroomspecification, the PWRC has in recent years been dominated by the battle between the current generation ofGroup N Mitsubishis and Subarus. Known for their smooth-handling and reliability, these machines haveoffered the cost-effective bridge for drivers coming into the WRC  from national championship success, whilealso providing the perfect step on the WRC ladder for drivers taking on the WRC for the first time in a fourwheel drive car.

25-27/05 Acropolis Rally
22-24/06 Rally of New Zealand
24-26/08 Rallye Deutschland
18-21/10 Rally d’Italia
01-04/11 Rally de España

Each entrant must nominate to compete in six of the eight events on the calendar. An entry may be placed inthe name of a Driver, or in the name of a Team where the team may substitute a driver. The PWRC offers titlesfor drivers and co-drivers and all six scores will count in the Championship standings. Drivers and Teamswishing to enter the PWRC must place an entry with the FIA before 12th December 2011 – although lateentries may be accepted at the discretion of the FIA until entries close for the third rally of the season.

Armindo Araújo (2009/2010 PWRC Champion): “It is an honour for me to be twice Production car WorldRally Champion. The series was the perfect stepping stone for me into the WRC.
