Petter Solberg will fight for podium in Rally Argentina 2011

Following their first podium of the year in Sardinia and with Petter currently lying fifth in the Driver’s Championship, the Petter Solberg World Rally Team is in Argentina ready for the start of the sixth rally of the 2011 season. West of Cordoba and north of the capital Buenos Aires, the rally is based in Villa Carlos Paz where a new Super Special has been laid out through the streets to be tackled at the start on Thursday afternoon.

Friday’s action sees three stages run twice, once in the morning, then again in the afternoon following the lunchtime service in Carlos Paz. On Saturday four high-‐speed stages are repeated and Sunday starts with the longest stage of the Championship season so far, 48.21kms long Ascochinga/Agua de Oro. Following a repeat of the 3.02kms Carlos Paz Super Special, Rally Argentina completes on Sunday afternoon with the Cabalango Villa Garcia Power Stage, which will be broadcast live on TV and offers additional championship points for the three fastest drivers.

The rally has a mixture of surfaces with both asphalt and gravel sections featuring on Friday and Saturday.

-‐ I would like nothing else than to follow up our third in Sardinia with a podium here in Argentina also, says Petter Solberg. – We have had one day of testing in France last week, and I think we have the information needed for the best set up. I have always enjoyed Rally Argentina, the atmosphere and the stages are great, and this time it will also be exciting to see how we will manage with the new tarmac sections.

Rally Argentina starts with a Super Special on Thursday at 1505 local time.
