Mini S2000 scores debut win in Rally Adriatico 2011

The MINI John Cooper Works rally car has won its first event. A MINI John Cooper Works S2000, driven by Andrea Navarra, took victory on Rally dell’Adriatico this weekend.

Navarra led the opening round of the 2011 Italian gravel rally championship from start to finish in the Grifone-run MINI S2000 fitted with a 30mm restrictor on the BMW Motorsport engine. The 30mm restrictor is currently mandatory in FIA regional rally championships to help balance the performance with the normally aspirated two litre Super 2000 cars. In the World Rally Championship, the MINI John Cooper Works S2000 runs with a 33mm restrictor, the same as the World Rally Car.

The MINI WRC Team will debut the MINI John Cooper Works World Rally Car in Sardinia in May at Rally Italy. The team and World Rally Car will be launched on April 11 in Oxford, UK.
