Petter and Chris charged through SS9 on day two of Rally Portugal, setting the fastest time after a small spin on the first stage of the morning had cost them 15 seconds. Petter backed off in the next stage fearing that he had a puncture but this was not the case and he was to suffer no repeat of the drama of the previous day’s punctures.

The afternoon brought another fastest stage time in SS12, a stage that saw a broken driveshaft for Ford driver Jari-Matti Latvala and a puncture for Henning Solberg. The last stage brought further troubles for Mikko Hirvonen and Jari-Matti but the day ended on a high for Petter and Chris with yet another stage win making them fastest on three of the day’s six stages. They complete day two having climbed up to 9th position overall from their starting position of 20th this morning.
Today has been exactly as we planned it yesterday evening, says Petter Solberg. – I was aiming for points in the championship and I still think we can climb even higher in the classification tomorrow. The car has worked perfectly today, we have the speed and the stage wins. We will continue the good work tomorrow.
Rally Portugal continues with four stages on Sunday. The first car will on the road from 08:14 local time.
Overall classification of day 2
